About Canal Routes
The current site, CanalRoutes.net was launched in December 2011. The content of
CanalRoutes.net is taken from the now non-operational site CanalRoutes.org which was operational from 1997 to
2007. All the information is the result of a great research and work of more than 10 years and the content
copyright belongs to its author, Peter Hardcastle.
The author of the content, Peter Hardcastle is not associated with the current site,
CanalRoutes.net, but has given permission to re-use the content from the old site.
The site’s purpose is to provide information about the history of the canals and not to be a
news site with up to date information. It is merely here to serve as reference for anybody interested to find
out more about the history of the canals.
